Massage Therapy

The best advice that I give is to always listen to your gut instincts; they are never wrong. The first massage I ever had was in class at school! But, the second I walked into The New York Institute of Massage I KNEW, here is where I was supposed to be. It felt like home. That loud voice shouting from the core of my being could not be ignored. Listening to my intuition is one of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned in life. Since 2001, it has set me on the path to getting paid to do my passion…massage therapy.

I am proficient in the following types of Massage therapy:

  • General Swedish Massage (fluff and buff)
  • Pregnancy Massage
  • Massage for the Medically Frail and Hospitalized
  • Medical Massage (injuries, diagnosed or undiagnosed pain)

Benefits of Massage Therapy

One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation, calm, and an overall sense of peace. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins – the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing.

Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine, are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.

Massage is effective in managing:

  • acute/chronic pain
  • delayed onset muscle soreness (the day after the gym)
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • stress
  • soft tissue injuries
  • high blood pressure
  • Insomnia
  • reduced muscle tension
  • improved circulation
  • stimulation of the lymphatic system
  • reduction of stress hormones
  • increased joint mobility and flexibility
  • improved skin tone
  • improved recovery of soft tissue injuries
  • heightened mental alertness
